Rhyolite Wire Weave Necklace

A beautiful Rhyolite cabochon has been used to create this wire woven pendant.  The copper wire has been antiqued and polished to bring out the natural beauty of the metal and treated to protect and preserve the finish.  It comes with an adjustable copper mesh chain that is 18″ – 20″ in length. The pendant itself measures 2 1/4″ X 1 1/4″.

A wonderful addition to your handmade jewelry collection, perfect for dressing up, business casual or weekend wear.

Rhyolite is a volcanic rock, and has a very similar chemical equivalent to granite. Found in volcanic arcs where “crustal” rocks have sub ducted under the crust and have melted into a lighter silica rich magma. What is considered Rhyolite contains more than 70% silica, giving this stone it’s light and color.
Some call the stone the “Streaming Rock” due to the colored bands, bubbles and crystal-rich layers of material that form when the lava flows over stone surfaces and slowly moves forward.

Each stone and gemstone is unique, each piece of jewelry created is also.

Natural Stones are not perfect. They may have surface or internal characteristics and color variations. I do my best to take accurate photos to show exactly what you will receive. Colors will vary slightly from one computer monitor to another.

*NOTE: Wire weaving and wrapping is a genre of jewelry that requires pliable wire to be shaped into each piece. As a piece progresses, the wire hardens and sometimes it is hammered to further strengthen a piece. It will retain it’s shape, however if you try to bend it or it gets squished, it will bend. Do not place your wire woven or wrapped jewelry in a purse or pocket.
